The dreams of 800,000 young people were wiped away with a stroke of Donald Trump’s pen today.
Putting partisan politics ahead of people, Trump ended President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy, which protected young immigrants who have committed no crime and know no other country from being deported.
Ending DACA is just another example of Trump doubling down on his white supremacist agenda and throwing precedent out the window, along with his pardon of Joe Arpaio’s human rights violations and Trump’s blame-shifting after Charlottesville.
We can’t trust him to keep his word to our allies, to our veterans, to working families, or to immigrants—and we know Congressman Dana Rohrabacher won’t stand up to him.
We must keep our promise to these inspiring youth—more than 200,000 of whom are in California right now living as students, future entrepreneurs, civic leaders, and innovative thinkers.
Trump is putting children who have done no wrong in harm’s way through his immigration policies—and he and the Republicans in Congress who are enabling him must be stopped.
