Our national security should not be a partisan issue.
Decisions on national security should be made with incredible caution and informed by experts. However, President Trump doesn’t follow that line of thinking. Consider the case of Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law.
National security professionals in the White House Personnel Office warned Kushner posed a security risk. In particular, they had concerns about Kushner’s personal conduct, business interests, and vulnerability to foreign influence. They advised against giving heightened security clearance to Kushner.
Trump disregarded the experts’ recommendations and ordered a top-secret clearance for Kushner.
Decisions cannot continue to be made so recklessly.
