I supported the Affordable Care Act because it was a big step in the right direction. The ACA nailed it with prohibiting discrimination against those with pre-existing conditions, allowing children to stay on their parents’ plan until age 26, and providing preventative healthcare for tens of millions of hard-working families. But we can and should do more.
That is why I believe in giving families, individuals, and small businesses the option of joining Medicare. I also believe in allowing Medicare the right to negotiate lower drug prices against Big Pharma and stop ripping off our senior citizens
But Rep. Dana Rohrabacher disagrees and wants to play politics with Americans’ health care.
Dana Rohrabacher and Donald Trump have been working to undermine health care access for those who need it most: lower-income families, individuals with pre-existing conditions, young adults, and women seeking reproductive care.
And it’s even worse than anticipated. They want to:
remove protections for the 130 million Americans living with pre-existing conditions;
give insurance companies the ability to charge higher rates to seniors; and
eliminate coverage for those suffering from mental illness and substance abuse disorders—in the midst of an opioid epidemic.
According to the Congressional Budget Office’s independent analysis, about 24 million Americans will lose their health care coverage by 2026 if this legislation is passed, nearly doubling the rate of uninsured people.
We cannot idly stand by and allow people like Rep. Dana Rohrabacher play politics with American’s health insurance. We’ll fight for access to affordable, quality, care for all every day when we get to Washington.
Today, I’ve joined 16 senators, congresspersons, governors and progressive candidates to sponsor a petition. Sign your name and tell Donald Trump: stop attacking our health care.
No family should ever have to choose between groceries and the medical treatments they need. Sign our petition today.
