Contamination in Seal Beach

Last month I chaired a hearing in the Subcommittee on the Environment and heard some disturbing news.

For years, American drinking water has been contaminated with toxic chemicals found in everyday goods like nonstick pans, take out containers, waterproofed clothing, and dental floss.

There are horrifying health problems associated with perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS): birth defects, advanced-stage cancers, and thyroid disorders.

The EPA knows, but officials claim bringing our water systems to healthy levels will be too expensive. Sign my petition and tell the EPA to clean up our water.

These chemicals PFAS are found in high concentrations in the firefighting foam used by the military to battle jet-fuel fires. This means families on military bases, active duty military personnel, and veterans are at especially high risk. Our community of Seal Beach is among those impacted.

There are both short term and long-term consequences if we fail to act now. Sign our petition and tell the EPA: ENOUGH. Clean up our water.

I'm not willing to gamble with the health and future of our communities, are you?
