NEWPORT BEACH, CA -- On April 17, 2017, technology entrepreneur and businessman Harley Rouda issued a challenge to his opponent, incumbent Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, to join in him a series of five debates during the primary election campaign. The incumbent failed to respond to Rouda's repeated request. Now that the two candidates are facing off once more in the upcoming November general election, today Rouda again, called on Rohrabacher to join him in paying respect to the voters of the 48th Congressional District by participating in a set of debates.

Rouda released the following statement:

"Over 174,000 voters across California's 48th District cast ballots in the June 5th primary election. Given this high turnout, it's clear that our voters are informed, educated, energized and civically active. They deserve to hear from the two candidates competing for their vote in the upcoming fall campaign.

"Dana, that's why I call on you today to join me in paying respect to the voters by engaging in a series of five debates. If you believe that voters in our district deserve to be respected and should be given the opportunity to see and hear, in person, from the top two candidates seeking their vote, then you'll join me. Continued silence and failure to debate will undoubtedly amount to an admission that you believe voters in the 48th District don't deserve such respect or opportunities. I sincerely hope you don't go down such path, and instead decide to join me on the debate stage."

The Rouda for Congress campaign is available to immediately begin negotiations for debate logistics in terms of dates, times and locations. The campaign proposes five debates, beginning after Labor Day in early September in addition to a series of town halls in August.
