Unsung heroes of health care

Too much news coming out of Washington, DC is demoralizing, gloomy, and just plain strange. So, once in a while, for the sake of balance, we should pause to celebrate our victories in the fight against Republican greed and corruption.

Just one year ago, Trump and the GOP tried to repeal the Affordable Care Act. And they failed.

Americans across the country came together to let Congress and the White House know that we take care of our own. We don't turn our backs on the most vulnerable among us by taking away health care.

It's fitting that this anniversary falls just ahead of National Nurses Week — a time to recognize the noble people working tirelessly to improve health care for all. Nurses are the unsung heroes of medical care. As professionals, they're rated as "the most honest and ethical" for 16 years running. I am honored to have the endorsements of the California Nurses Association.

We must remain vigilant and focused on taking back Congress in November. We need to ensure Congress is full of individuals ready to protect health care access and work towards Medicare for All.

Chip in today and help me get there. The Primary is on June 5 — only a month and a day away.

Together, community members, health care professionals, and legislators must continue to work to make a good program even better.
