Harley Rouda Lands Backing of Laguna Beach Democratic Club President*
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Kicking off the week with a momentum-building announcement, today businessman Harley Rouda scored an endorsement from Dr. Gary LeFebvre, President of the Laguna Beach Democratic Club* in his campaign to represent California’s 48th Congressional District.
In announcing his support of Rouda, Laguna Beach Democratic Club President Dr. LeFebvre* stated:
“I’m endorsing Harley Rouda because I know he’ll bring common sense, inclusivity, and progress to Washington for the people of our district. He’s smart and has a vision for Washington that we need- more investments in clean energy, education, job-training, increased access to healthcare, comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship and stronger alliances with our allies abroad. I know he will make us proud as our Congressman from the 48th district.”
Today’s announcement comes on the heels of news last week that Rouda hauled in a sizable $100,000 in independent donations in a mere 12 days; garnered endorsements from former Orange County Democratic Party Chair Frank Barbaro, former California Attorney General Bill Lockyer, and Laguna Beach Mayor Toni Iseman; and also rolled out his first online video, titled “Clean House.” Additionally, Rouda‘s unveiled his initial agenda items for what he plans to address in Washington.
Just last week, Rouda released his first online video, titled, “Clean House,” highlighting the stark contrast between incumbent Congressman Dana Rohrabacher versus Rouda’s

The 48th Congressional District is considered a ripe pickup opportunity for Democrats, as Hillary Clinton won the district by 2%. The district is seen as all the more winnable given that Rohrabacher is an unabashed supporter of Russia’s Putin, and is one of Donald Trump’s closest allies in Congress. The 48th Congressional district also had one of the largest swings of any Congressional district in the country from 2012 to 2016, with more than 13 percentage points at the presidential level shifting to Democratic.
